Farsight, in partnership with Purpose, led a series of in-depth Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) across France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland. The goal: to better understand how people across Europe perceive the future of their countries and to explore the types of narratives that resonate most deeply with them.
Between February and April 2024, Farsight conducted 17 focus group sessions with 98 participants, distributed as follows:
Poland: 4 FGDs | 20 participants
Spain: 3 FGDs | 20 participants
Italy: 3 FGDs | 18 participants
France: 4 FGDs | 21 participants
Germany: 3 FGDs | 24 participants

Regions were chosen strategically based on voting patterns, economic context, recent climate or environmental events, and demographic profiles. The idea was to capture a broad mix of voices—rural and urban, working class and middle class, politically engaged and disillusioned.
Recruitment combined digital outreach and community-based engagement:
-
Targeted social media campaigns on Meta (Facebook & Instagram)
-
Posts in local Facebook groups and forums
-
Partnerships with local recruiters and community networks
-
Direct outreach in public spaces like markets, cafes, and train stations
